Early Christian Beliefs and HistoryThe Book of Acts records that after Jesus’s ascension to heaven forty days following his resurrection, his disciples were gathered fearfully. Book of Acts tells how the Spirit of God came to them in the form of fire, giving them courage to spread the belief that Jesus was the Messiah. This preaching is known as the Birthday of the Church.

Paul and Pauline Christianity
Christianity among non-Jew brew because of the missionary Paul’s preaching in Greek. Originally named Saul, Paul was born of Jewish parentage in Tarsus. He obstinately opposed the new “ Jesus movement.” Later, Paul came to a new understanding of Jesus. He experienced a vision with Jesus, where Jesus asked him why he persecuted him. After many years, Paul was convinced that Jesus’s life and death were major events of a divine plan. Paul discovered his life’s mission: to spread the belief in Christ around the Mediterranean.
